As a Dutch person learning English I have started this blog to help me out to improve my use of English. It's still difficult for me to find the right words to express what I want to tell. I hope the readers will let me know when I made mistakes.Of course I would appreciate it also to hear if there is something well written.

English
Cheryl told me she has enjoyed her meeting with you. I can tell you I was not surprised:-) I have learned a lot from you in such a short time and every week I am looking forward to the new session. Jan Cees his birthday was nice with his mother and brother and family. I have cooked an dinner and after that we had a quiet evening. Now it's already Friday again, and another weekend is waiting for us. I really hope the whether will be a bit nice. Next week I will tell you about our new holiday we are going to have in April.

I'm really glad Cheryl enjoyed the session. She's a nice girl and I was glad to help. I also enjoy our sessions very much, so I shall look forward to seeing you on Wednesday too. I'll try and write a Dutch post before then as well. Like your work mails in English, I write a lit of work emails in Dutch, but no one corrects me, so it is really useful to have your comments too :)
ReplyDeleteNow, about this post, it is really pretty good and there is only one mistake that would confuse anyone. This is in the sentence that begins Jan Cees his birthday. It's a small mistake, but you need to say Jan Cees's birthday. If you find that hard to remember, just think that 'his' is another way of say Jan Cees, so it's double! The only other mistakes are where you have used 'she has enjoyed', and 'I have cooked dinner'. These should be 'she enjoyed' and 'I cooked' because they are both finished past events. This is confirmed by your use of 'Cheryl told me' and 'after that we had a quiet evening'. And finally, it is the 'weather' and not the 'whether' :-)) - just spelling, so no big deal! See you on Wednesday and I'll hear about your holiday!
Hmmm, nothing new here. Well, let's try again next week.....both of us! :))
